Short answer
From the aircraft door to your car at SDQ takes 25–45 minutes on a normal day: a short walk to immigration, passport control, baggage claim, a customs bag scan, then the arrivals hall. Your driver stands just outside the customs exit with a name sign, inside the building and past the taxi desks.
Immigration and baggage
Las Américas is a single passenger terminal, so there is no inter-terminal transfer and no train. You walk from the gate to immigration in a few minutes. Have the E-Ticket QR code ready on your phone or printed; the officer scans it with your passport.
Baggage belts are immediately after immigration. Two or three wide-body flights landing together is the main cause of a slow arrival — that is when a 25-minute exit becomes 45.
Customs and the arrivals hall
Every bag goes through an X-ray at customs before the doors. Most travellers are waved through in under a minute.
Past the doors the hall is narrow and loud. Taxi desks and tour sellers are on your immediate left and right; keep walking a few metres and look for the name sign. Our driver does not shout and does not approach you outside the building.
Then the drive
From the car park it is a straight run on the Autopista Las Américas: Boca Chica $25 in about 15 minutes, Zona Colonial $35 in 30–40, Juan Dolio $45 in 35–45. Tolls are already in the price.

How many terminals does SDQ have?
One passenger terminal. All international arrivals use the same hall, so there is nothing to connect between.
Where exactly does the driver wait?
Inside the arrivals hall, just past the customs exit doors, holding a sign with your name. Never at the kerb outside.
How long should I allow after landing?
Plan 45 minutes from wheels down to being in the car; 30 is common with hand luggage only.
Is there an ATM before the exit?
Yes, ATMs and exchange counters are in the arrivals hall, but rates are poor — see our currency guide.
What if my driver is not there?
Message the WhatsApp number on your confirmation. We track your flight, so the car is on site before you clear customs.
