Uber exists in Santo Domingo, but the arrivals curb at Las Américas is not where the app is at its best.

Short answer
Santo Domingo has far more ride-hail supply than Punta Cana. Inside the city, an Uber or InDrive is a normal way to move around. The problem is the airport pickup itself: the terminal is 25–30 km from the city, drivers do not like the empty return leg, and the arrivals area is controlled by the official taxi union.
Uber works in the city, not always at the curb
Santo Domingo has far more ride-hail supply than Punta Cana. Inside the city, an Uber or InDrive is a normal way to move around. The problem is the airport pickup itself: the terminal is 25–30 km from the city, drivers do not like the empty return leg, and the arrivals area is controlled by the official taxi union.
In practice, arriving passengers report cancelled rides, drivers asking them to walk out to the highway ramp, and surge pricing at exactly the hours the flights land — late evening and early morning.
What it costs versus a booked car
A working Uber from SDQ into the colonial city usually lands somewhere between $22 and $40 depending on hour and surge. Our fixed private price to Zona Colonial is $35 Standard, per vehicle, with a name sign inside arrivals, flight tracking and tolls included.
The saving on the app is small and only exists if the ride is not cancelled. The certainty is the whole product here.
When we would tell you to use the app
Short hops inside Piantini, Naco or the Malecón during the day. Going out to dinner in the colonial city. Any trip where a ten-minute wait costs you nothing.
Not for the airport run with luggage, children, a night landing, or a long-haul leg to Punta Cana, Samaná or Jarabacoa. Apps do not price those runs sanely.

How do I book a transfer from SDQ?
Send your flight number, date, hotel or address and number of passengers on WhatsApp. You get a written confirmation with the fixed price, and the driver details the day before travel.
Do I pay in advance?
No. You pay the driver at the end of the ride in US dollars, Dominican pesos or euros. There is no deposit and no card charge when you book.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle, for 1–6 passengers, including tolls and taxes. Larger groups are quoted with additional vehicles at the same fixed zone rate.
How far in advance should I book?
A day or two is usually enough, and same-day requests often work. In high season, book a van three or four days ahead.
Is there a surcharge for night arrivals?
No. The price is the same at 03:00 as at midday, and we track your flight, so a delay does not change it either.
