SDQ or JBQ? The two Santo Domingo airports explained
Check the three-letter code before booking a driver or comparing travel times.

Short answer
SDQ is Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez at Punta Caucedo, east of Santo Domingo. JBQ is La Isabela / Doctor Joaquín Balaguer, also known as El Higüero. They are different airports. Use the airport code and arriving flight on the transfer request; 'Santo Domingo airport' alone is not precise enough.
Check the ticket, not the city label
Open the detailed itinerary and look for the airport code on the arriving flight. Booking sites and calendar summaries can emphasize a city name while hiding the exact airport in smaller text. Send the code and flight number together when requesting pickup.
For a connecting journey, distinguish the airport where you first enter the country from the airport where the road transfer begins. If another person booked the flight, ask them to send the full arrival details rather than a message saying only that you land in Santo Domingo.
Do not reuse a fare from the wrong airport
Our published SDQ zone table is for Las Américas transfers. It should not be applied automatically to a journey starting at JBQ. Send the actual airport and final address and request a separate confirmation if your flight uses La Isabela.
Similarly, a hotel described as near Santo Domingo airport may mean one airport specifically. Confirm which airport the property serves before booking an overnight stay for an early flight. A cheap hotel in the wrong location can undermine the entire departure plan.
An airport change is a separate journey
If your itinerary requires a road transfer between airports, confirm the onward airline's check-in deadline, baggage handling and responsibility for the connection. Road driving time alone does not establish whether a connection is workable.
Provide both flight details and ask the airlines what happens if the first arrival is late. Obtain a quote for the exact airport-to-airport itinerary; do not substitute a city-centre hotel rate. Keep contingency arrangements separate from any claim that a car can guarantee a flight connection.
