The JW sits on top of the Blue Mall in Piantini, the city's luxury shopping tower, and takes most of Santo Domingo's senior business travel. The catch on arrival is the entrance: the hotel lobby ramp is separate from the mall parking ramp, and an unbriefed taxi will use the wrong one.

The approach road

From SDQ we take the Las Américas highway, pay the toll, cross the Ozama and climb into the city on 27 de Febrero before turning north to Winston Churchill. The hotel entrance is on the Churchill side of the tower with a doorman under a covered ramp.

From the SDQ exit to your door

2. 2Highway and toll, both included, then over the Ozama.
3. 327 de Febrero west, then north on Winston Churchill into Piantini.
4. 4Up the hotel ramp — not the mall ramp — and bell staff take the bags to the lobby lift.

Under the hotel's own ramp on Winston Churchill. For departures the driver goes up to the lobby with a name sign instead of waiting in the mall.

Departure: when to leave the hotel

Piantini is one of the slower districts to leave in the morning. We collect three hours and 15 minutes before an international flight — 04:45 in the lobby for an 08:00 — because Churchill and 27 de Febrero fill from 07:00.

What is around it

The Blue Mall is downstairs, Piantini's restaurant blocks are a five-minute walk, Ágora Mall is ten minutes by car and the Colonial Zone is 20 to 30 minutes depending on the hour.
