About Excellence El Carmen
A large adults-only all-inclusive on the wide Uvero Alto beach, north of Bávaro where the coast turns quiet. It is one of the furthest points we drive from SDQ, and the last stretch runs on a coastal access road rather than the main highway.

The approach road
Three and a quarter to three and three-quarter hours from SDQ: Las Américas highway, San Pedro, La Romana, Coral highway, then north past Macao onto the Uvero Alto road. The final kilometres are resort access road ending at the Excellence gatehouse.

This is a five-hour-before-flight property for SDQ: 03:00 for an 08:00 departure. Guests who dislike that hour often fly out of Punta Cana instead, which is about 45 minutes from Uvero Alto.
What is around it
Uvero Alto beach runs for kilometres in front of the resort, Macao beach and its surf schools are about 25 minutes south, and the nearest shops and pharmacies are in Bávaro, roughly 40 minutes away.
