About Billini Hotel

A restored 19th-century mansion turned design hotel on Padre Billini, one block from Plaza España and three from the cathedral. Guests are mostly couples and long-weekend visitors from Europe and North America who want the old city rather than the Malecón, and who arrive with two suitcases and no car.

Address our drivers use: Calle Padre Billini 256–258, Ciudad Colonial, Santo Domingo

The approach road

We come off the Las Américas highway at the Ozama bridge, drop down Avenida Olegario Vargas to the riverside and enter the Colonial Zone from the Puerta de San Diego side. Padre Billini is a narrow one-way street with cobbles and no hotel driveway; the entrance is a tall wooden door in a cream facade with a small brass plate, easy to drive past if you do not know it.

From the SDQ exit to your door

  1. 1Meet at the arrivals exit in SDQ Terminal A with a sign showing your name, after customs and before the taxi stands.
  2. 2Twelve minutes on the Las Américas highway to the Máximo Gómez toll, which is already in your price.
  3. 3Over the Ozama on the Juan Pablo Duarte bridge, then right along the riverside into the old city.
  4. 4The driver stops at the Padre Billini kerb outside the hotel door and walks your bags in to reception.

Where the car stops

The car stops directly at the hotel door on Padre Billini; there is space for one vehicle only, so the driver stays with the car while the doorman takes your bags in.

Departure: when to leave the hotel

For an international flight out of SDQ we ask you to be in the lobby three hours before departure, which usually means leaving Billini around 05:15 for an 08:30 flight. The old city is quiet at that hour and the run takes 40 minutes.

What is around it

You can walk to the cathedral, Parque Colón, Calle El Conde and the restaurants of Plaza España in under ten minutes, and to the Alcázar de Colón in twelve. That is why almost nobody who stays here rents a car.

Dispatch notes

  • · Padre Billini closes for street events several times a year; the driver checks the morning of your departure and uses Arzobispo Meriño instead.
  • · The rooftop bar means late check-ins are common — a booked car with your name is calmer than a street taxi at 01:00.
  • · Ask for the same driver on the return leg; most Billini guests book both directions at once.
